Blog : Visa types and work permits, how to apply them

As a tourist visiting Thailand, you might be captivated by the beauty of the place and wish to make it your permanent home. However, to stay long-term, it’s crucial to have a stable income and secure housing.

To do so, you’ll need to have the right type of Visa and a Working permit.

We would like to give you some information.

  1. Visa Types in Thailand

Thai Elite Visa: The Thailand Elite Visa, part of the Privilege Entry Visa category, provides long-term residency with various benefits lasting from 5 to 20 years, depending on the chosen package. It’s a 5-year renewable multiple-entry visa allowing extendable 1-year stays. Ideal for those residing or frequently visiting Thailand, it offers a streamlined visa process for digital nomads, retirees, and professionals needing multiple entries annually.

Tourist Visa: The 60-day Tourist Visa in Thailand can be single-entry or multiple-entry, extendable for 30 days at immigration offices. If you wish to prolong your stay beyond 30 days, you can convert this visa into a Non-Immigrant Visa.

Non-Immigrant Visa: Usually a single-entry visa allowing a 90-day stay in Thailand, the Non-Immigrant Visa offers work permits and bank account opening possibilities. Extensions into longer-term permits, based on selected categories, are available at Thai embassies, consulates, or immigration offices.

Types of Non-Immigrant Visas:

– Non-B Business Visa

– Non-O Retirement Visa

– Non-O Marriage Visa

– Non-B Investment Visa

– Long-Term Residence Visa (Marriage and Retirement)

Meeting Financial Requirements for Marriage or Retirement Visas: Meeting financial prerequisites is essential for obtaining the Marriage or Retirement Visas, catering to those married to Thai nationals or aged 50 and above, respectively. Initiate with a Non-Immigrant Visa and progress to Marriage or Retirement Visas, allowing a year-long stay in Thailand, renewable without leaving the country.

Business Visa: The Non-Immigrant Business Visa serves individuals engaging in legal business activities or working in Thailand. It eases work permit acquisition and bank account opening.

Permit Resident Visa: Eligibility for this visa requires residing continuously in Thailand for three years with annual visa extensions. If married to a Thai citizen for five years, a minimum monthly income of 40,000 THB is needed. For singles, the income requirement is at least 80,000 THB. Verification through three years of tax statements is necessary for qualification.
